Finally the day has arrived
8 November 2006
Todays timings did not quite go to plan, originally we were to arrive at the hospital at 6:00am for an operation at 8:00am...but the time ticked on
and due to other deliveries the operation did not start until about 9:40am, but within the 15 minutes the two were born. After a quick
viewing by Mum and a short hold by Dad they were taken to the nursery, to be weighed and measured and stats taken. While this happened the surgical team then
went to work to repair the damage to Sharon by the operation.
This experience has been totally different to the birth of our first daughter Kaitlyn. It all seems to be associated with the type of delivery. Rather than the 30 hours or so we experienced with our first, the whole procedure for these two was over within about 45 mins.
So far that was probably the best bit...because the worst part about all this will be the recovery time for Sharon.
The rest has been a little strange, mainly because we haven't had much of a chance to spend time with them, especially all together, hence the few photos I am posting... Soon though there will be more - tomorrow I'll be snapping away because hopefully Kaitlyn will get a chance to meet them! Once again Sharon is a trooper, 37.5 weeks nearly full term with twins, and then brave enough to be awake to see their arrival. I am very proud of her again to have brought two new little ones into this world - a little brother and Stister (not a typo this is how Kaitlyn says it) for Kaitlyn.
A few more from 9 November - we are finally getting a chance to see them more!
